Why Pilates?

As a professional ballerina, I put my body through a lot and suffered frequent injuries. After a serious hip injury and trying an array of other treatments, I began consistent Pilates privates and it healed my hip enough to prevent surgery and kept my body healthy for the first time in years. Not only that, but my overall performance dramatically improved. I danced better and I felt stronger. This inspired me to begin the Pilates training and become an instructor.

While Pilates is known for being great cross training for dancers and other athletes, it is unique in that it is gentle enough on the joints that it can be executed by truly any person at any age. Pilates will teach you to move from the core out, allowing you to execute every movement more efficiently. Your body learns how to live and move in correct alignment with good posture. Furthermore, the gentleness and support of the springs strengthens and mobilizes your body simultaneously. With consistent practice, Pilates will improve your athletic abilities as well as your everyday life.

I have been fortunate to teach both classes and private lessons to all ages and ability levels throughout my Pilates career. What I have found, both in my own practice and in teaching, is that when it comes to producing results, no class can compare to what one on one coaching can provide. I want to make a difference in how you live your life. I want to get to know you! Private lessons allow me to learn closely about your body, your habits, your personal goals, and get you moving and feeling in a new way as efficiently as possible. By individualizing each and every lesson just for you and what you need, we will achieve true and lasting improvement, body and mind. Experience:

I have thirteen years experience teaching movement. I began teaching ballet at the beginning of my dance career and with that came a wicked eye for alignment, correct placement, and how the body can move in the most efficient and effortless way possible. My Pilates teaching career began with the onset of Covid as my dance career ended. Since then I have engrossed myself in teaching Pilates to all ages and abilities, including professional athletes, dancers, prenatal and postpartum women, and those suffering from chronic pain. I am experienced working with scoliosis and other postural misalignments, those with a wide variety of injuries (neck, shoulder, back, hip, knee, and foot), as well as those recovering from surgery.
